Recommendations for optimal nutrition care in the elderly
During the 40th European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN) conference held on 1-4 September 2018 in Madrid, there was much attention on the importance of good nutrition for elderly persons and geriatric patients. A group of scientists presented recommendations for the best nutritional care in the elderly to prevent undesired weight loss and reduced fluid balance.

Bone experts publish consensus report on protein intake and bone health
It is known that protein intake contributes to the maintenance and growth of muscle mass. But is it also beneficial to our bones? Twelve experts in bone health published a consensus report summarising the most recent insights on protein intake and bone health. One of their main conclusions is that protein contributes to the maintenance of bone mass, provided that calcium intake is adequate.

New meta-analysis: Protein enhances muscle mass during resistance training programs
Protein contributes to growth and maintenance of muscle mass. The effect of protein supplementation when used in conjunction with resistance exercise training (RET) on enhancing muscle mass and strength in athletes has been widely investigated. However various studies have produced conflicting results. Morton et al (2018) performed a meta-analysis to further investigate the effects of protein supplementation during RET in healthy adults.
